Design Brief
This project required us to design a chair inspired by four precedent works that could transform between two distinct seating positions. Each position was based on the body measurements of a different group member.

Research & Ideation
I modeled the form in Rhino, my partner designed the joinery, and I prepared the laser cut file with layer counts for thickness.

We glued the backrest and arms, and I attached the back supports.

Final Testing

Pre-Stress Test

Post-Stress Test

The chair held during the initial test but collapsed during the presentation due to joint failure.
The process taught me a lot, and with more preliminary prototypes and a longer project timeline, the design could be further improved to strengthen stress points.
